Myself and another colleague at work were today charged with the task of recomending a number of retailers for awards at the World Retail Congress in Berlin. There are several categories, and the nominations were difficult for us both. But, here goes our list of best in class:
1. Store design of the year: Desigual, Spain (London store, Oxford St)
2. Responsible retailer of the year: AEON, Japan
3. Emerging market retailer of the year: Shanghai Tang
4. Etailer of the year: www.asos.com
5. Retail advertising awards:
- traditional media: McDonalds, Chicago (outdoor)
- In-store: M&S, Plan A
- New media: H&M
- Direct marketing: Country Road, Australia
6. Retail innovation award: Sportsgirl, Australia
